On the night of October 9, the Peruvian Congress approved the impeachment of President Dina Boluarte for "permanent moral incapacity". According to the Constitution, since Dina Boluarte did not have a vice president, the president of Congress, José Jerí, a 38-year-old lawyer, took the oath of office.
